Exploring the Olympic Movement with Dr. Roch King

This Thursday, the Point Clear Rotary Club welcomes Dr. Roch King, Chair of Sport Coaching at the United States Sports University and Council Chair of the Center for the Study of Olympic Sport & Culture (CSOSC).

Dr. King will share insights into the Olympic Movement, one of the most influential global forces in sport, education, and international cooperation. His presentation will explore the complex history, values of the games, and enduring impact of Olympism, as well as the role sport plays in promoting excellence, friendship, and respect across cultures.

As Council Chair of the Center for the Study of Olympic Sport & Culture, Dr. King helps lead one of only a select group of institutions worldwide recognized by the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Studies and Research Centre network. The Center is dedicated to advancing research, education, and community engagement related to Olympic sport and culture.

Members will also learn about Olympic Day 2026, which will be celebrated on June 23 at the United States Sports University. Olympic Day is a worldwide celebration of sport, health, and community inspired by the founding of the modern Olympic Games. Dr. King will invite Rotarians and community members to participate in this special local celebration.

Whether you are a lifelong sports enthusiast, an advocate for youth development, or simply curious about the Olympic spirit, this promises to be an engaging and timely presentation.
