Tomorrow’s Speaker Spotlight: Max Cassady
Tomorrow, the Point Clear Rotary Club will welcome Max Cassady for a fascinating presentation titled “A Time Capsule from an Attic: A Prominent Man’s Business Files from 1910 to 1965 Come to Life.”
In the early 1980s, Max’s father purchased a business near the courthouse in Conecuh County. Stored away in the attic were boxes of documents that opened a remarkable window into more than half a century of Alabama history. What first appeared to be old business files became a vivid time capsule filled with stories of commerce, politics, medicine, law, Prohibition, early federal tax returns, family hardship, and even a daylight murder involving a taxi cab driver.
Max’s presentation will take us back in time through the lives, letters, and legal files preserved in those boxes. The story begins with a three-page letter dated February 8, 1921, and ultimately stretches a full century later to a 2021 phone call with a stranger in California whose family had long whispered about what happened in Alabama.
This promises to be a compelling program that connects local history, family memory, and the unexpected stories hidden in ordinary places.
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
Point Clear Rotary Club Meets 2026 Scholarship Recipients

Following another highly competitive scholarship cycle, the Point Clear Rotary Club Scholarship Committee has announced its 2026 scholarship recipients. After a rigorous review and interview process, Austen Yang of Daphne High School was selected as the overall recipient of the club’s prestigious $12,000 scholarship award. Austen plans to attend Johns Hopkins University, where he will pursue a pre-med track majoring in molecular and cellular biology.
We are also excited to welcome Austen as a guest at tomorrow’s meeting, where club members will have the opportunity to recognize his outstanding achievement and wish him continued success as he begins this next chapter.
History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.
