Rotary began with the vision of one man, Paul Harris, who founded the Rotary Club of Chicago on February 23, 1905. His goal was to create a space where professionals from diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Today, Rotary has grown to over 1.4 million members worldwide.

Polio Eradication
In 1979, Rotary adopted a plan to fund polio immunizations worldwide, aiming to eradicate the disease. Early efforts in the Philippines immunized 6 million people, effectively ending polio there. Today, thanks to Rotary’s partnership with the World Health Organization and others, polio remains in only a handful of cases in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Rotary’s annual Purple Pinkie Donut Campaign continues to raise funds for this mission, symbolizing the purple dye used to mark vaccinated children.

Our Local Impact
Rotary Youth Club
The Rotary Club of Point Clear proudly supports the Fairhope-Point Clear Rotary Youth Club, located at 19128 Young Street, Fairhope. This organization provides after-school and summer enrichment programs for children. Our club participates in their annual Pancake Breakfast fundraiser and contributes proceeds from our events.

Fundraisers
Our signature annual fundraiser, Taste of Rotary, brings the community together to support local causes. We are also exploring new event ideas to engage with our community and raise funds.
Disaster Relief
Providing hot meals to Gulf Coast communities affected by disasters is one of our most impactful service projects. Our club owns a fully equipped trailer with grills, griddles, and supplies to aid these efforts.
