This Week at Point Clear Rotary: PR Is Not Spin—It’s Storytelling with Integrity

This week, the Point Clear Rotary Club welcomes Jennifer Jenkins, APR, founder and president of JJPR Agency, for a thought-provoking program designed to challenge common misconceptions about public relations.

Many still equate public relations with “spin” or superficial messaging. In this presentation, Jennifer will share what public relations actually is—and what it is not. Drawing on more than 25 years of experience advising organizations through growth, change, and scrutiny, she will discuss why long-term reputation management matters far more than short-term attention or visibility.

Jennifer will provide insights on how authentic, values-driven storytelling builds trust over time and why organizations that align their actions with their messaging are better positioned to lead, serve, and sustain credibility—particularly in close-knit communities.

About Jennifer Jenkins, APR

Jennifer Jenkins, APR, is a public relations strategist and founder of JJPR Agency, a public relations and marketing firm based in Daphne, Alabama. She launched JJPR in 2010 to help organizations communicate more effectively while building a company rooted in integrity, community, and strong client relationships. She has grown JJPR from a solo consultancy into a nationally recognized agency serving clients across healthcare, manufacturing, education, economic development, and tourism.

Ranked among the top public relations firms in Alabama by Business Alabama and named the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Women-Owned Business Award winner in 2020, JJPR has created award-winning campaigns for clients including the Alabama State Port Authority, Austal USA, BASF Corporation, Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance, Children’s of Alabama, Cirque du Soleil, and USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute.

A summa cum laude graduate of The University of Alabama, Jennifer holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and marketing and her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Universal Accreditation Board. She is a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses National Cohort and the SBA Emerging Leaders program. In 2022, she was inducted into the Southern Public Relations Hall of Fame.

Deeply committed to service, Jenkins has held leadership roles with the Public Relations Council of Alabama, the Southern Public Relations Federation, and the Junior League of Mobile, and currently serves on the board of the Eastern Shore Art Center and the Alabama Association of Nonprofits.
