🍲 Point Clear Rotary Joins Kiwanis Gumbo Cook-Off!

Our club will be cooking up some fun this Saturday at the Kiwanis Gumbo Cook-Off at the Fairhope Amphitheatre! A huge thank you to Ross for preparing his soon-to-be-famous gumbo, and to everyone helping with setup, supplies, and serving throughout the day.

We’ll be on site starting at 8:00 AM, flying the Rotary tent high and spreading some Rotary fellowship (and great food) in the community. Come out, taste the competition, and cheer on the Point Clear Rotary team!

🌍 Newsletter Fun Fact

Rotary began its fight against polio in 1979, launching a project to vaccinate 6 million children in the Philippines. What started as one small initiative quickly grew into a global mission.

By 1985, Rotary had established PolioPlus, the first and largest internationally coordinated private-sector effort to eradicate a disease. In partnership with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and later the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Rotary has helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children in 122 countries.

Since that first campaign in the Philippines, Rotary members have contributed over $2.6 billion and countless volunteer hours to the cause. Polio cases have decreased by more than 99.9% worldwide, with only a handful of cases remaining in a few regions.

Rotary’s unwavering commitment proves what’s possible when people unite behind a shared purpose — a world where no child will ever suffer from polio again.

You’ve got five sweaty guys in short pants; don’t make it more complicated than you need to.
