🎤 Tomorrow’s Speaker:

Cody Aloi, Mobile Bay National Estuary Program

hosted by, Paul Orcutt

We’re excited to welcome Cody Aloi from the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program (MBNEP) to share an innovative and truly one-of-a-kind research project spanning all of Baldwin and Mobile County waterways.

Cody and his team are leading a groundbreaking Wastewater Detection Canine (WDC) Program, training dogs to detect human sources of wastewater pollution with remarkable precision. These canine partners can identify contamination faster, cheaper, and more accurately than traditional lab methods—helping protect the health of our local waterways and communities.

In just one year, the research has shown extraordinary results: the program’s trained canines have achieved 99.6% detection accuracy, identifying wastewater at concentrations far below the limits of current analytical methods.

This creative collaboration between scientists, veterans, and man’s best friend is making national waves in environmental protection—and it’s happening right here on the Gulf Coast.

Join us tomorrow morning to learn how Cody’s team is using innovation, science, and a wagging tail to make a cleaner, safer future for Mobile Bay.

IT’S OFFICIALLY TWO WEEKS TO TASTE OF ROTARY

🍷 Taste of Rotary: October 26 at The Wash House

The countdown is on for our biggest (and tastiest) fundraiser of the year! To make it a success, we need your help with two key things:

🎯 Goal #1: Sponsors

  • Fund scholarships, youth programs & service projects
  • Great exposure for businesses (and good karma, too!)
  • Know someone who might be interested? Send them our way!

🎟️ Goal #2: Raffle Tickets

  • Available now — easy to buy, easier to sell
  • Proceeds go straight into the work we do year-round
  • Grab a stack, share with friends, and help spread the word

✨ The more sponsors and raffle tickets we secure, the bigger the impact we can make. Let’s fill that sponsor board and keep the momentum rolling!

Stay tuned for volunteer opportunities, and more details soon.

💡 Rotary Fun Fact: “One Profits Most Who Serves Best”

The secondary Rotary motto, “One Profits Most Who Serves Best,” was adopted in 1911, just six years after the founding of Rotary. While the primary motto, “Service Above Self,” is well known, this companion phrase captures the same spirit in a slightly different light.

The saying reminds Rotarians that the greatest rewards in life come not from personal gain, but from serving others with sincerity and purpose. When we dedicate our time, talent, and compassion to improving our communities, we enrich our own lives in the process, gaining friendship, fulfillment, and a deeper connection to humanity.

This early Rotary ideal continues to guide clubs around the world, proving that genuine service does not just change lives, it changes hearts.

If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.
