✅ Check In Online Before the Meeting!

If you haven’t tried checking in online yet, this week is the perfect time to start! It’s quick, easy, and helps us keep everything running smoothly. We encourage all members to log in and complete their check-in before the meeting so you’re ready to go when you arrive.

🎤 Tomorrow’s Speaker:

Kirk McNair
A Legend of Alabama Sports Journalism

50+ years. 600+ Bama games. Hall of Famer. Don’t miss Kirk’s inside look at the Crimson Tide — plus a McNair family connection!

A member of the Alabama Sports Writers Hall of Fame, Kirk will share behind‑the‑scenes stories, pivotal moments, and what makes Alabama football tick.

Fun note: Kirk is the first cousin of our own Bill McNair—but “not a lot older.”
See you tomorrow!

Taste of Rotary: Now Accepting Sponsors and Raffle Ticket Buyers!

We’re just weeks away from our biggest (and tastiest) fundraiser of the year — Taste of Rotary is happening Sunday, October 26 at The Wash House, and we need your help to make it a smash hit!

🎯 Goal #1: Sponsors, sponsors, sponsors.
Scholarships, service projects, youth programs — these don’t fund themselves, and neither does the wine 🍷. If you know a business that wants exposure, a generous friend, or if your own company wants some good karma (and logo placement), now’s the time to act!

🎟️ Goal #2: Sell those raffle tickets!
They’re available now, and proceeds go directly to the impactful work we do year-round. Easy to buy, even easier to sell—so grab a stack and spread the love.

Let’s fill up that sponsor board and move those tickets like it’s a flash sale at Target. 💃🕺

More updates coming soon on auction items, volunteer shifts, and all the fun stuff—but for now, let’s lock in the support that makes all the magic happen.

Cheers to making this the most successful (and well-funded) Taste of Rotary yet! 🥂

🥞➡️🦋 Rotary in the Community

🥞 Pancake Breakfast Recap

The Rotary Youth Club Pancake Breakfast was a flipping success — and it’s all thanks to you, our amazing community! Your generosity keeps our pans hot and our programs cooking. Because of your support, local kids will have access to tutoring, afterschool fun, and the chance to grow into tomorrow’s leaders (with syrup still on their fingers).

Huge thanks to the volunteers from all our local Rotary Clubs who rolled out of bed before sunrise, tied on aprons, and embraced their inner short-order cooks. Whether you were greeting guests, flipping flapjacks, or sneaking a sausage link, you showed what “Service Above Self” looks like — and probably smelled like maple syrup all day.

Together, we proved that making a difference

🦋 Butterfly Panels at Flying Creek

Just when it looked like our butterfly panels might flutter away unfinished before the Flying Creek Nature Preserve grand opening, Skip Jones swooped in like a DIY superhero with a hammer in one hand and boat-building skills in the other. Thanks also to the Plot Shop for giving our butterflies some dazzling new wings with their graphics, and to master painter David Daniell for restoring the frame — basically, the Bob Ross of Rotary projects.

The result? Panels that look so good, even the butterflies are stopping to admire themselves. This is definitely something every member can be proud of for years to come (and maybe longer than the lifespan of an actual butterfly 🦋).

🔍 Rotary Fun Fact of the Week:

🎓 Rotary Youth Exchange students spend a year abroad in over 100 countries each year.

Every year, Rotary gives thousands of high school students the chance to live and study abroad through the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. These students spend a year immersed in a new culture, language, and way of life in one of 100+ countries worldwide.

It’s not just about travel — Youth Exchange builds lifelong friendships, promotes global understanding, and helps shape young leaders who return home with broader perspectives and a heart for service. Many former exchange students later become Rotarians themselves, keeping the cycle of connection and service going strong! 🌍✈️

🎬 AV Help Needed – Don’t Make August Another Ghost Town!

July came and went… and guess what? Not a single soul signed up to help with AV. We know you’re out there with opposable thumbs and a basic grasp of “put plug here.”

All we need is someone to help put away equipment after Thursday meetings. It’s a one-month gig, not a lifelong vow—and yes, it’s way easier than deciphering IKEA instructions.

Be the hero we know you are. Sign-up sheet’s at the desk (it’s even on paper not the iPad!).

The real question is not whether machines think but whether men do.
