🎤 Tomorrow’s Speaker:

Michael Lynch
Co-Founder & CEO of Chonex

Building the Circular Economy for Agriculture

Michael Lynch is the Co-Founder and CEO of Chonex, a biotechnology company revolutionizing sustainable agriculture through innovative upcycling technologies. By turning poultry waste into high-value organic fertilizers and soil enhancers, Chonex is helping farmers improve yield, regenerate soil health, and protect water resources.

Before launching Chonex, Michael spent over 20 years leading and scaling rural-focused organizations, including directing Teach For America in Alabama and building community tutoring programs in partnership with Auburn University. His work sits at the intersection of education, entrepreneurship, and environmental innovation.

We’re excited to hear from Michael about how Chonex is reimagining agricultural systems—starting right here in Alabama.

🥞 THIS SATURDAY: Pancake Breakfast at the Rotary Youth Club!

Don’t hit snooze on this one — our annual Pancake Breakfast is happening this Saturday, August 23, from 8:00–10:30 AM at the Rotary Youth Club (19128 Young Street, Fairhope)!

Come hungry and ready to support a sweet cause — all proceeds benefit the Afterschool Tutoring Program, helping local students succeed in school and beyond.

🍴 Fluffy pancakes
☕ Hot coffee
🎒 Brighter futures

Bring your appetite, your neighbors, and maybe your loosest-fitting jeans. Let’s flip for a good cause!

🦋 Rotary in the Community

Flying Creek Nature Preserve Grand Opening
📅 This Saturday, August 23
🕙 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
🎀 Ribbon Cutting at 10:30 AM

After you’ve had your fill of pancakes and coffee, head over to Flying Creek Nature Preserve to keep the Rotary spirit going!

Our club will have butterfly display panels at the event—swing by, say hello, and check out the beautiful new trails, kids’ activities, and ribbon cutting ceremony.

Yes, it’s the same day as the Pancake Breakfast, but we believe in you. Eat fast, drive safe, and make it a double-dose of Rotary goodness this Saturday! 🥞➡️🦋

Taste of Rotary: Now Accepting Sponsors and Raffle Ticket Buyers!

We’re just weeks away from our biggest (and tastiest) fundraiser of the year — Taste of Rotary is happening Sunday, October 26 at The Wash House, and we need your help to make it a smash hit!

🎯 Goal #1: Sponsors, sponsors, sponsors.
Scholarships, service projects, youth programs — these don’t fund themselves, and neither does the wine 🍷. If you know a business that wants exposure, a generous friend, or if your own company wants some good karma (and logo placement), now’s the time to act!

🎟️ Goal #2: Sell those raffle tickets!
They’re available now, and proceeds go directly to the impactful work we do year-round. Easy to buy, even easier to sell—so grab a stack and spread the love.

Let’s fill up that sponsor board and move those tickets like it’s a flash sale at Target. 💃🕺

More updates coming soon on auction items, volunteer shifts, and all the fun stuff—but for now, let’s lock in the support that makes all the magic happen.

Cheers to making this the most successful (and well-funded) Taste of Rotary yet! 🥂

🔍 Rotary Fun Fact of the Week:

Rotary has its own seat at the United Nations! 🌍

Rotary International has held a consultative status with the UN since 1946 and played a key role in drafting the UN Charter. Today, Rotary maintains representatives at UN offices around the world and continues to collaborate on peace, health, and humanitarian initiatives.

So yes, your pancake-flipping, raffle-ticket-selling Rotary club is connected to global diplomacy. Pretty cool, right?

🎬 AV Help Needed – Don’t Make August Another Ghost Town!

July came and went… and guess what? Not a single soul signed up to help with AV. We know you’re out there with opposable thumbs and a basic grasp of “put plug here.”

All we need is someone to help put away equipment after Thursday meetings. It’s a one-month gig, not a lifelong vow—and yes, it’s way easier than deciphering IKEA instructions.

Be the hero we know you are. Sign-up sheet’s at the desk (it’s even on paper not the iPad!).

Whatever you do in life, surround yourself with smart people who’ll argue with you.
