🎤 Tomorrow’s Speaker: Mayor Sherry Sullivan
Running Fairhope Like a Pro: Mayor Sullivan Spills the Tea
If there’s anyone who knows how Fairhope runs (literally and figuratively), it’s Mayor Sherry Sullivan. Before becoming the city’s top dog, she logged nearly two decades working for Fairhope and Riviera Utilities.
Now in her first term, she’s already overseen $60 million in upgrades and quality-of-life projects—which is probably more than most of us spend at Sam’s Club in a lifetime.
She’s involved in so many boards and committees that we’re convinced she’s got a clone. Come hear about what’s happening in Fairhope and how her team is shaping the future. (Spoiler: It doesn’t involve roundabouts… probably.)
🔍 Rotary Fun Fact of the Week:
Paul Harris—founder of Rotary—wasn’t actually a morning person.
In fact, early Rotary meetings were usually held in the evenings. So if you’ve ever questioned your life choices during a 7:30 AM meeting… just know, Paul would’ve hit snooze too.

🥞 Save the Date: Pancake Breakfast at the Rotary Youth Club
Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 8:00–10:30 AM at the Rotary Youth Club (19128 Young Street, Fairhope)!
Join us for a flapjack-filled morning that supports a fantastic cause—proceeds go directly to the Club’s Afterschool Tutoring Program, helping local students thrive in and out of the classroom.
Bring your appetite, your friends, and your stretchy pants. Pancakes taste even better when they help power brighter futures!
🎬 AV Help Needed – One Month Only!
Do you have basic tech skills and two hands? Perfect! We’re looking for members to help put away AV equipment after our Wednesday meetings. It’s just a one-month commitment, and we promise it’s easier than assembling IKEA furniture.
Sign-up sheet is on the front desk—claim your spot and become the unsung hero of clean exits and coiled cords.
In Case You Missed it Last Week:
In the Spotlight: Skip Jones
We’re thrilled to share that longtime Point Clear Rotary Club member and past president Skip Jones was recently featured in Scenic 98 Coastal magazine!

In the article, “Skip Jones: An Old Salt in Fairhope” by Zeb Hargett, Skip is celebrated as one of the most civic-minded and community-driven people on the Eastern Shore. With a heart for service, a deep love of local history, and a lifetime of stories, Skip embodies the spirit of Point Clear.
As the article puts it:
“He’s a quiet, humble guy who is involved in everything that helps build community… an ‘Old Salt’ worth his weight in gold.”
We are thankful to have Skip in our club and our community!

🍷 Taste of Rotary: Sponsors Wanted — We Accept Cash, Checks, and Flattery!
We’re heating things up for this year’s Taste of Rotary on Sunday, October 26 at The Wash House, and right now, we’re on the hunt for… SPONSORS!
Why sponsors? Because scholarships, service projects, and youth programs don’t pay for themselves — and neither does the wine! 🍷✨
We’re calling on all members to channel your inner fundraiser:
- Know a local business that loves good publicity?
- Have a friend who owes you a favor?
- Own a company and want your logo on everything but the dessert?
Send them our way! Big or small, every sponsorship helps us make an impact (and makes you look like a hero).
Stay tuned for more ways to help — auction items, behind-the-scenes magic, and event day hands-on fun — but for now, let’s focus on filling up that sponsor list like it’s happy hour! 🍾🥂
Let’s make this year’s Taste of Rotary the most delicious, most meaningful, and most well-sponsored event yet! Cheers to that!
Love your enemies, for they tell you your faults.
