Capt. Ewell speaks on NATO and National Security Strategy

This week, the club hosted our own Steve Ewell. Capt. Ewell (USN Ret’d), served on the staff of the United States European Command where he served as the Chief of Policy of Africa and the Middle East. Later in his career he was the Executive Director of the Command Control Communications and Intelligence Directorate.

Today, Capt. Ewell reviewed his observations on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO, and how it operates in the European theater. It is of particular importance regarding Ukraine’s potential with NATO membership and the current dispute between Ukraine and Russia. He also explained NATO’s relationship with the Department of State and the Department of Defense. Capt. Ewell discussed the National Security Strategy and how it is developed and implemented.
